Brief History

J Munson Haulage was formed in 1993 by Jim Munson when he bought his first commercial vehicle, a Volkswagon 'LT35' 3.5tonne pick up. He started to do local deliveries for a handful of customers, he had to work around the clock to keep customers happy and to make a name for his self in the area.
This was proving successful he then needed something bigger, so bought his first MAN 7.5 ton flatbed, this demonstrated to be able to handle most loads from these customers, this then attracted more custom. His next decision was to employ another driver. At the time the vehicle was parked on a family members drive. The next step was to source a yard for an operator centre. This was adequate for the next few years, but steady growth of the company’s customer base meant that in 1997 we had to move to bigger premises which we still occupy today.

Now employing a brilliant array of drivers that are very careful and take pride in their work with us. Jim is now taking a back seat after nearly 26 years, James Munson his son has been working alongside his father for 17 years is now the Managing Director and has been since 2010, He has gaining the well needed experience from his father for the last 17 years and has worked alongside him in the office for the last 12 years after a long stint out on the road, to learn the nature of the job.  Jim’s eldest son Richard also works at the company driving one of our 7.5ton vehicles the length and breadth of the country on a daily basis.

There have been many changes along the years here. In 2016 James wanted to change the business name to something more recognizable and more to involve what we do. To MUNSON TRANSPORT LIMITED. We are a tight knit family run business and Rachel, Jim's Daughter joined the company in 2010. We then added Jim's yougest son Dan to the team who took a change of career in 2014. Dan worked along side James for a few years and is now a first class well established Transport Co-Ordinator.  He organizes our drivers on a daily basis.
